Misty started off with a great show career. As a Sr. kid,she placed 1xRGCH & 4x1st. As a yearling in milk, she was placed in the top of her class. In 2001 had complication from a bout of Mastitis, which she never recover and was unable to continue her show career. Misty's legacy live on though her son Cricket's Kids Bleu Mist and many of daughters out and about in other herds. Misty was featured twice in the 2004 Nubian Breeding Calendar done by Donna Palmer. Misty is truly missed.

Emily had a wonderful show career going 13 x BOB and 5 x BIS with as many as 153 senior does. She was 3 times INBA specialty show winner in 1999, 2000 & 2001.
She has many wonderful daughters in other herds. Impress Me Emma is a daughter we retain for our herd.
Emily died 1 day before her 11th brithday and 2weeks before she was due to kid. It has been an honor and a joy to have Emily live at our farm were she got plenty of extra attention. Special memories of Deb Smith who had such a wonderful show history with her.

These pictures were taken June 05. Emily at the age of 10.

A Tribute to Emily from Molly Saal

A grand lady passed today. One day shy of her 11th birthday. It is with great sadness I reflect tonight. It seems so long ago when a pair of twin does were born. One flashy black and white and one plain brown. As most kids born at my farm have always been sold, these two were no different. A young 4-H girl came to look at what I had to offer. She looked at both does who were quite young and looked to me for guidance. I said I felt that while the one doe was quite flashy I felt the little brown doe was my personal pick of the two. So on my recommendation she picked up her little doe cradled in her arms and named her Emily and headed home. Due to the young 4-her’s inexperience in detecting heat cycles, Emily did not get bred that first year. She had held her own at the county fair as a kid, but as a dry yearling the judge told the owner Emily’s shoulder assembly was so bad she would never hold up. I comforted the young girl and simply said, “I don’t think so” and neither did the many other ADGA judges Emily would show under in years to come. Emily was bred that next year and as a first freshening two year old took everything in the 4-H show. But would she do it in the open shows? Time would tell.

While it was a wonderful finish for this young girl she would be going off to college and at least for now needed to sell her goats. I would have loved Emily, but my husband as was common was on one of his “there are too many goats” kicks and I knew she could not come back to me. It just so happened that my dear friend and soul mate, Deb Smith of Rimfire Farm was looking for a competitive 2 year old milker to add to her show ring and as they say, the rest is history. Emily proved over and over that she could compete with the best. She had a show career that included 13 BOB and 5 BDIS with as many as 153 senior does competing.

Emily and Deb’s relationship was what one might call a love-hate relationship. Deb was offered several thousand for the doe on multiple occasions and never considered parting with her, but it was not unusual to see her the strong proud doe in a struggle of the wills. But no matter what, when she entered the ring, Emily new it was all about her and really strutted her stuff. After Deb’s death Emily ended up at a farm in Michigan and Cindy Hill and myself were able to buy her back a few years ago. We picked her up and she was so thin and frail we weren’t sure she would make it home, but we felt we owed this great doe the effort. She blossomed again under the loving and competent care of Cindy Hill where she resided and kidded several more times. She was due to kid again in less than two weeks, but it was not to be. She died peacefully March 13th. Thank you Cindy for your love and care of this great doe. I am honored that she roamed among the does of Cricket’s Kids.

Houston is a half brother to Nicholas. I really believe in these genetics. Same sire but a different and very beautiful and sound dam line. His full sister was second place three year old at the Nationals in Springfield, Ill. His dam is eight years old and still very sound on feet and legs and a very beautiful doe. She would easily have finished a championship except that after two legs she got mastitis which ruined half the udder for future showing
